Origin of City Name
Chosen because the water of the mineral springs, located about a mile above the village, closely resembled the mineral content of Congress Springs at Saratoga, New York.

Location
Saratoga is located in Santa Clara County, 26 miles east of the Pacific Coast, 10 miles southwest of downtown San Jose, and 50 miles south of San Francisco. The city is situated in the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains at an elevation of 500 feet.

Climate
Saratoga’s Mediterranean-like climate is typical of coastal northern California with year-round mild temperatures. The average temperatures May to October are 50-90 degrees, and November to April temperatures are 40-65 degrees. Rainfall averages 29 inches annually and usually occurs between November and April. Humidity is moderate to low. Winds are generally from a southerly direction in winter and a northwesterly direction in the summer.
